Mood
A settler’s mood affects productivity. Inspect their mood entries to see which needs and recent experiences are helping or hurting them.
Mental break
A prolonged low mood builds stress. When the stress bar fills, a settler may suffer a mental break, ignore orders and damage the settlement. Other settlers can subdue them.
Basic mood
Sleeping in a bed improves mood. Barracks and private bedrooms give bonuses, and the luxury of an owned bedroom also counts. Sleeping on the ground, outdoors, in heat or cold, or being woken early lowers mood. Eating in a dining room improves mood. Meal quality can raise or lower it depending on the meal’s tier compared with the settler’s. Hunger and sleepiness both lower mood.
Tip
Hungry: supply permitted meals. Poor sleep: provide reachable owned beds and a comfortable room. Bored humans: offer varied recreation. Repeated dirt penalties: clean the area and pave approaches. Check the individual mood entry before spending resources.
